Herne, 7th March 2016: sustainability is critical for the economy, ecology and society. In this context, end-users and clients ask the question "But what is feasible?" Mechanical engineering and construction provides answers through innovative solutions and the sustainability initiative Blue Competence of VDMA (German Engineering Federation).
In 2012 GEA Air Treatment was already a member of this initiative among 400 other companies. This year too DencoHappel has met all sustainability criteria of the Blue Competence and created a showcase project of sustainable heating and refrigeration engineering with the construction of the "Villa Flora".
Many sustainable production methods are not recognizable at first sight. Therefore, Blue Competence defines resilient sustainability criteria and standards to be fulfilled by everyone joining this initiative. Thus, Blue Competence ensures more transparency, facilitates orientation, and provides security for those who seek sustainable solutions or sustainably oriented companies.
But above all, the "success stories" of the companies represent an important part of the Blue Competence Initiative. With these stories, ecologically sustainable projects are described and make it easier for customers or planners to find the right sustainable methods of construction. The unusal glass building "Villa Flora" in Venlo is one of DencoHappel's success stories. It was built for the international horticultural exhibition "Floriade 2012" and was intended not only to fulfill practical purposes, but to prove its economical aspect as well, above and beyond the exhibition. Now the 30-m-tall glass building is also used for offices and occupied rooms. DencoHappel has set the goal to continue writing sustainable and ecologically valuable "success stories" of heating and refrigeration engineering in the future.
